Risk/Challenges
The main challenge that “Fill and Go” is going to come across is during the establishment stage of the business life cycle and that is getting our product well known to people. Because going in to pay for petrol has been what you have had to do for as long as people can remember having such a new idea and concept is going to be weird for people to comprehend because it is such a big change.
The First strategy that we are going to implement to fix this challenge is by demonstrating to buyers of the “Fill and Go” card that we aren’t here to change the way its been done for so long we are only trying to make the consumers life easier and quicker. Our goal is to not only cut down on the time spent waiting in line to pay for petrol the “Fill and Go” card will also reduce excess money being spent within the service station. The way in which we demonstrated this was by having ordinary Australians the fill and go card against going into the petrol station and paying for the petrol.
Our first test was done with a single Mum of three, When the mother had to go inside to pay for petrol she had to get all 3 kids out of the car with her take them all into the petrol station for which all three of them nagged for lollies and sweets so instead of only paying for the petrol the mother then had another $12.50 added onto how much she paid. When the mother used the “Fill and Go” card she filled up her petrol held the card to the automated scanner on the petrol machine and was back in her car with a full tank and ready to go.
Our second test was done a truck driver doing a 12-hour drive. When using the “Fill and Go” system he was back on the road within minutes where as when going to pay in store for petrol he is wasting precious driving time. Although he was quoted as saying he would still use the normal way of paying for petrol he also said that the innovation of the “Fill and Go” system will be a hit with consumers who don’t want the hassle of waiting around.
Our second strategy that we would enforce to go against the challenge of people not knowing our business is through advertising by majorly advertising our new business within Caltex petrol stations this way people will become aware of what our business, How it works and how to get there hands on it. Once people become aware of our business then we it will be easy to push the idea through word of mouth of the customers who are already aware of the idea.
